Hi, I’m Jessica! Most people call me Jess, I’m an independent visual storyteller born and raised in Orange County, California. I have been photographing portraiture for over 6 years now. I started my business over 3 years ago, where I have continued to photograph people.
Last summer I spent my days in Valencia, Spain, capturing the culture from the food to the local musicians and even major events like the Corpus Christi. I was also fortunate enough to cover the Aquarius ship full of over 600 refugees arriving at the port of Valencia after traveling for days on end from Libya.
In the last year, I have contributed my photographs to the Daily Titans, California State University of Fullerton’s student newspaper, The Daily Orange, Syracuse University’s student newspaper and The Voice of OC, an Orange County nonprofit newsroom.
Most recently I have been awarded the Professional Promise Award from the California State University of Fullerton and placed second as best news photograph from California College Media Association.
Currently, I have been working on a visual story of the lead poisoning in New York that was recently published, as I pursue my master's in multimedia, photography, and design at Syracuse University.
In the near future, I hope to continue telling the stories of the individuals that make up the communities around me. I also intend to continue traveling to different countries and learning more about their lifestyles and cultures that make up our world today.
